Governor Evers & Congressman Pocan to Tour New Sheet Metal Training School on Friday

MADISON, WI – Madison Area Mechanical and Sheet Metal Contractors Association (MSC) and Sheet Metal Workers Union Local 18 will host Governor Tony Evers and Congressman Mark Pocan for an exclusive tour of the new Sheet Metal, Air, Rail, and Transportation (SMART) Training School at 11:45 a.m. on Friday, December 13, 2019, MSC Executive Director Julie Walsh announced on Wednesday. The new Training School is located at 150 Communications Drive, Sun Prairie, WI.

“We have put a lot of hard work into building this new Training School for the Sheet Metal Workers Local 18, and we’re thrilled to share it with Governor Evers and Congressman Pocan,” explained Sheet Metal Workers Union Local 18 Business Agent Scott Bartz. “This state-of-the-art facility has the newest equipment for our apprentices to learn the trade, and for our members to continue their education.”

The tour will be guided by Bartz, Sheet Metal Workers Union Local 18 Business Manager Mike Mooney, MSC President and President of General Heating & Air Conditioning Brad Werlein, MSC Secretary/Treasurer and President of 1901 Inc. Brady Farrell, and Department of Workforce Development and Bureau of Apprenticeship Standards Field Operations Chief Joshua Johnson.

“We are excited to share our new Training School with the Governor and Congressman,” explained Werlein. “This building is a wonderful opportunity for our apprentices and members of Union Local 18 to learn Sheet Metal and hone their trade.”
